Mayday: The Survival Island is the 2D open-world crafting game by Pequi Studios and indie.io. It is on Steam for Windows, released 2 November 2026. It is not the 2026 Apple TV film, and it is not the 2025 retro shooter that is also named Mayday.

Release date

The public timeline runs from a free demo, through a Steam Next Fest appearance around 19 October 2026, to the full release on 2 November 2026. Steam news posts on 3, 4, and 5 November cover the first patches and, on 4 November, a soundtrack DLC (app 5295510). I am not turning those posts into a patch-note dump. The date that matters for a purchase is 2 November 2026.

Price

On 5 November 2026 the US Steam store showed $13.99, with a 20 percent launch discount to $11.19, and the offer text “ends November 16.” An earlier planning note said the 17th. I am using the store sentence from the 5th. Discounts move. If you read this later, trust the store, not this paragraph.

Demo

A free demo is still listed under app 1906850. The full game adds the release content the store describes: 24 islands, the achievement set, and the systems the launch note talks about. I am not inventing a list of demo-only cuts. Where a crafting cost below comes from a demo-era clip, the crafting page says so.

Reviews

The store page on 5 November 2026 showed 81 user reviews and 90 percent positive, which Steam labels Very Positive. An earlier count of 73 was already stale the same week. I will not call the game a classic on the back of a first-week score. The number will be different when you look.

Platforms

Windows is the only platform on the store record. macOS and Linux are off. There is no Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, or phone edition in the publisher note or the store. Steam Deck has no compatibility rating. The platform page has the longer answer.

What the first day looks like

The store story is a crash, then 24 islands, a lost culture with totems and guardians, and a way off. In play, the opening hours are gathering wood, leaves, twigs, stone, and flint, then a workbench, a fire, a bed, and a raft. Two full-release videos from 3 and 4 November 2026 show that route. The beginner guide turns it into a sequence. The crafting page keeps the station list, including the costs that only one video reads out loud.
